Description
Senior Audio Engineers are members of the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Center (ESARC) team, led by the Director of Audio and Media Production. This team records most performances for the eight-week summer season, provides live sound reinforcement for many Aspen Music Festival and School events, and assists with livestreamed concert events. ESARC staff work closely with the other AMFS production teams.
Responsibilities
Senior Audio Engineers will record a wide variety of performing ensembles encompassing symphonic orchestras, recitals, chamber ensembles, operas and choral groups, and new music ensembles in a variety of Festival venues. Additional responsibilities include:
Provide live sound support at Festival venues, working independently and as part of a team.
Participate in livestream concert production, potentially including camera operation, score following, graphics and stream monitoring.
Mentor junior ESARC team members.
Assist the Director of Audio and Media Production as needed with team leadership tasks such as scheduling, quality control, and interaction with artists and administration.
Requirements
Senior Audio Engineers should have significant experience and training in recording and editing classical music and/or providing sound reinforcement for a variety of music genres.
Applicants must have completed a degree in audio engineering and have at least two years of field experience. In lieu of a degree, 3-5 years of professional experience will be considered.
A positive attitude, attention to detail, and good organization and communication skills are essential. Experience leading a team of fellow engineers is preferred.
AMFS uses Pro Tools and Reaper DAWs, so proficiency in these platforms is preferred. Experience in multiple other DAWs will be considered. Livestreaming utilizes Wirecast and Vimeo software, cameras by Panasonic, Lumix, and Canon, and BlackMagic Design switchers.
A background in classical music performance or composition is preferred.
Commitment to a team effort throughout the course of the summer program is essential.
Engineers should be prepared to follow prescribed guidelines for recording and sound reinforcement.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States, be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs or greater weights in tandem with other crew members, and have a valid driver’s license.

Compensation
$15.42/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.45/hour depending on location.) Overtime $23.13/hour
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
