Part Time Prep Cook

The Part Time Prep Cook will assist in the preparation of our cafe' and bar menus. You will perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations, prepping ingredients, following recipes, and packaging ready to eat products. Prep Cooks will follow all Chicago food safety standards and guidelines. Ideal candidates will have an eye for detail and a sense of urgency. This position does not include any supervisory duties.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Follows prep list and recipes created by Café' Manager and Food & Beverage Director

• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing, chopping, and portioning

• Follows all Chicago Food Safety Standards and Guidelines

• Packages ready to eat items

• Ensures proper storage and labeling of prepped items in a clean and organized manner

• Requires an ability to work as a team member and an ability to communicate with kitchen staff and others

Required License:

• Illinois Food Handlers License

Desired Qualifications:

• 1 to 3 plus years of food service experience

• Basic Knife Skills

• Availability Monday and Thursday morning/early afternoon

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

• Continuous standing during preparation

• Continuous repetitive motion

• Walking, bending, stooping and kneeling

• Reaching overhead

• Ability to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds

Compensation:

Hourly rate is $17 per hour with benefits for part time employee. Benefits include dental, vision insurance, employee assistance program, 401(k) matching retirement program and Ventra transit benefit program.
