PROTOTYPE: Opera | Theatre | Now, the annual Festival of global opera-theatre and music-theatre works, co-produced by HERE and Beth Morrison Projects, is seeking interns to assist with all areas of this world-renowned festival.
Term: January 2 – January 18, 2023
The PROTOTYPE Interns will be assigned to one of the following teams: Producing, Company Management, Operations, General Management, and Development. Duties range from being present at technical rehearsals, theater load-ins and strikes, house and company management/artist relations responsibilities, cultivation event planning, and includes show-specific ASM duties as needed. Interns will also assist with office and Festival administration duties, such as running errands, generating or updating paperwork, etc. A large part of the internship involves interfacing with the public and acting in front of house roles such as box office, ushering, coat check, etc. Interns must be comfortable interacting with artists, audiences, producers, and donors.
The PROTOTYPE interns will work directly under the Festival Producers, Festival Production staff, or Festival Development staff. With seven events taking place in seven different venues, this paid internship offers a great opportunity for hands-on experience in all areas of performing arts production and management. The intern experience is tailored to suit an individual’s interests and strengths based on availability and experience.
The PROTOTYPE internship takes place from January 2 – January 18, 2023. All interns must have full day availability and flexibility for the 17-day duration. The internship will be a combination of virtual and in-person work, beginning with an in-person onboarding session taking place in mid-late December. The compensation for the internship is $15/hour, in addition to a 17-day unlimited NYC MetroCard.
