The Marketing Manager is responsible for devising and executing marketing plans for all Mile Square Theatre (MST) key programs, projects, and initiatives, ranging from mainstage shows, concerts to education programs, to benefits and special programming in our Annex space.
The Marketing Manager will conceive and implement tiered audience engagement strategies from acquisition through conversion that drive maximal engagement and meet or exceed revenue and consumption goals. Success hinges on an understanding of the need for multiple touchpoints with any potential audience member and the ability to deploy traditional and innovative marketing tools and techniques in service of converting existing and future theater fans/donors. The ideal candidate has experience marketing a variety of cultural products in myriad ways and balancing multiple projects at a time.
The Marketing Manager will work closely with the Managing Director to expand the audiences and donor-base for MST activities and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Creating full-lifecycle marketing plans for each assigned MST project, program and/or initiative.
Proactively initiate and manage programs, driving deadlines and marketing deliverables in all aspects of program development, from concept and formulation to program kickoff, to final program and campaign delivery, on time and within guidelines and budget
Lead the design and execution of acquisition marketing and donor development programs, show/event poster design, from concept through delivery, partnering closely with cross-functional internal teams including Facility/House Manager.
Work in close cooperation with the key internal stakeholders (Artistic Director, Education, Managing Director, etc.) to understand and identify needs, trends and funding expectations and relay these back to the team.
Manage and execute on all design/creative requirements, and follow-up as required to meet given timelines and budgets.
Work with MD on project P&L spend recommendations for specific products/media placements, social spends, etc.
Monitor, evaluate, and understand innovative marketing activity within our industry and best in class.
Understand influencer marketing and how to reach micro-segments as well as broader targets.
Stay abreast of current trends and tools to serve as a constant source of inspiration and intelligence for leadership, internal stakeholders and for application to strategic projects.
Conducting needs assessments, peer and user research, and market analysis to inform product development and strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of three years of digital marketing experience in music, arts, education, or media sector, or at an agency.
Experience successfully marketing products, programs and/or events with a range of available resources.
Flexible and creative problem solver — able to tackle complex issues while collaborating across multiple teams and maintaining an optimistic attitude.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, complete important time-sensitive tasks, adapt quickly to last-minute changes, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent organizational, critical, budget, creative, interpersonal, presentation, oral, and written communications skills.
Familiar with leveraging data and insights to inform planning and decision making.
Experience with Facebook Business Manager and Google Ads platforms (2-3 years), Salesforce Patron Manager, CourseStorm, WordPress, HTML, Emma, SquareSpace, Adobe Photoshop, Canva.
Proficiency in video editing, website analytics and conversion rate optimization (Google Analytics, A/B testing).
Knowledge and appreciation of the arts.
Flexibility and willingness to plan, execute, manage, and own programs with a small team. Sense of humor. Must be your own boss.
Pays up to $22.50/hour.
