Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates with a background in theatre lighting and video direction for the position of Lighting and Video Director. This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours required. This position requires someone who is knowledgeable about theatrical lighting and people management, and who has the ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist/anti-biased organization. Applicants for this role should have robust communication and relationship building skills, knowledge of video and lighting systems design and deep practical knowledge of lighting and electrical systems.

POSITION SUMMARY
CTC’s Lighting & Video Director, utilizing the resources available, is responsible for the on-time planning and installation of the lighting, video, and projected designs as presented by the designer. Leading a team consisting of regularly scheduled house electricians as well as over-hire staff, this position works collaboratively with the Artistic Director and the Production Manager to meet the needs of the production schedule and creating a departmental budget.
This position reports to the Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lighting and Video Direction
• Work as a creative problem solver, in conjunction with the Artistic Director and Production Manager, in the planning and execution of all lighting and video elements
• Determine approaches, procedures, schedules and techniques to create lighting and video effects for each production
• Budget and estimate cost of labor and materials for each production; track expenditures and update projections monthly
• Attend technical dress rehearsals and previews as assigned
• Work with other production department heads on the solution of problems, multi-department projects and scheduling
• Schedule work for regularly scheduled I.A.T.S.E staff
• Hire, schedule and oversee of work of all over-hire personnel
• Attend production and staff meetings
• Order and shop for materials and stock as needed to meet production needs
• Responsible for recording rehearsals and special projects, maintenance of video equipment, overseeing the video archiving of shows, and managing CTC’s video archives
• Provide and edit archival footage for research, grants and partnerships
• Oversee the maintenance and safe use of all lighting and video equipment
• Create archival documentation of all lighting designs
• Establish and maintain safety programs and training for Lighting & Video Department personnel
• Review and approve staff timecards for payroll
• Conduct performance reviews with lighting and video staff
• Research and recommend equipment and facility improvements for capital expenditures
• Co-ordinate lighting design and execution for Curtain Call Ball (development gala fundraiser) and other fundraisers, events and rentals
• Oversee lighting needs for Theatre Arts Training classes and productions. Supervise interns working on education productions
Collaborate with all staff in the furtherance of CTC’s goal of being an anti-racist theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
• Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist workplace practices and policies
• Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of how white supremacy, racial violence, and systemic racism have shaped American society and how that shapes CTC’s workplace and the lives of CTC employees
• Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Video systems design
• Use of standard lighting fixtures, dimmers and lighting consoles
• Deep practical knowledge lighting and electrical systems
• Demonstrated time and budget management skills
• Video editing and projection design desirable
• Lighting design experience useful
Experience
Progressive experience in theatrical lighting management. Demonstrated people management skills required.

COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for this full-time position is between $51,000 and $58,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b) retirement savings plan.
