Lighting and Sound Technician - Barrington Stage Company

Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires (MA), is seeking a Lighting and Sound Technician to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. This position is full time, year round with benefits and starts immediately.

Responsibilities:

● Overseeing the lighting and sound needs of BSC events during the “off season” (mid-October through mid-May), including the annual 10×10 New Play Festival in February

● Serve as the point person for rental groups using the theatre spaces during that time.

● Oversee all maintenance of lighting equipment, sound gear and projection equipment making sure they are in safe and proper working order

● Keep lighting, sound and projection storage areas clean and organized

● Maintain inventory lists of lighting, sound and projection equipment

● Assist with other projects including facilities and vehicle maintenance and repair as needed

● Keep up to date with current trends and technologies in lighting, sound and projection design and equipment and provide suggestions to improve equipment and infrastructure for BSC facilities

● During the summer and fall seasons the Lighting and Sound Technician will assist the Lighting Supervisor and the Audio Supervisor as needed



Skills:

● Proficient with VectorWorks, Lightwright, QLab, Dante, MS Office and Google Suite

● Experience with analogue and digital mixing consoles including Yamaha CL5 and Yamaha MC7 and experience with ETC family of lighting consoles including Eos, Ion, Element and Express boards.

● Knowledge of theatrical sound systems and equipment including speakers, microphones, amplifiers, EQ and processing gear

● Experience with moving lights, knowledge of theatrical rigging, electricity and wiring

● Knowledge of video and projection systems and equipment

● Able to read and understand blueprints, light plots and sound plots

● Able to work from ladders, personnel lifts, and other heights.

● Motivated, self-starter able to work both independently and collaboratively

● Driver’s License required; personal vehicle recommended.



This position reports to the Director of Production and Operations. It is full-time and requires working nights and weekends when the theatre is in production.



Salary is $40,000-$45,000 commensurate with experience plus relocation assistance offered to out-of-town candidates as well as competitive benefit package.
