Lighting Supervisor - Aspen Music Festival and School

Description

The Meadows Campus production staff is the team responsible for the production implementation of all concerts, rehearsals and events which occur at the Aspen Music Festival & School’s (AMFS) main performance venues in Aspen, Colorado. These facilities include a 2,050-seat Benedict Music Tent and the 500-seat Harris Concert Hall. The Lighting Supervisor position is a unique opportunity with the AMFS. This position is perfect for a candidate that is both an experienced theatrical electrician as well as someone interested in event production management. The Lighting Supervisor works under the supervision of the Production Manager and Assistant Production Managers.



Responsibilities

Maintain lighting plots in three spaces: Benedict Music Tent, Harris Concert Hall and Entertainment Tent, including dimmer/channel management, dimmer check, lamp and instrument repairs, and focus touchups. Minor programming throughout the season.

Possibility of multiple design assignments throughout the season dependent on prior experience

Communicate with the Production Manager about crew needs for work calls and inventory needs.

Typical duties involve power distribution, cabling and schematics, and running power safely to outdoor venues.

Maintain consistent communication between the Development Department, Education and Outreach Department, and the Operations Department about production needs for each event in the Entertainment Tent.

Help guide and inform event managers about design options and abilities for each specific event.

This position will also assist the Meadows production team as crew for events when able.

Requirements

Currently pursuing or graduated with a BA/BFA in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in lighting or electrics or significant experience in that field.

Broad knowledge and fluency in theatrical lighting and expertise in the safe rigging of truss systems and lighting instruments.

Demonstrated ability to lead a production crew for load in/out, and work calls.

Candidate must have sensitivity to the needs of staff, guest artists, faculty, and student performers, and designers, with a proven ability to work well with others.

Candidate also must be independently motivated, with safe and confident work habits at large heights in catwalks and grids and the ability to climb stairs and ladders comfortably and repeatedly.

Candidate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and materials or, of greater weights in tandem with additional crew member assistance.

Compensation

$1,150/week plus summer housing

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
