Join our team! Orlando Repertory Theatre (“Orlando REP”) is seeking a Lighting Intern for the 2020-2021 season!
The Orlando REP staff strives to create a comfortable atmosphere for growing and learning while you hone your professional skills and build your portfolio under our wing. Interns at Orlando Repertory Theatre not only get a one-of-a-kind experience from a professional staff; they also have unique access to industry professionals from Disney, Universal, and other leading organizations through networking and career counseling workshops. Interns also benefit from complimentary tickets to Orlando REP productions during their stay. Housing is not provided.
The Lighting Internship provides practical application to anyone building their professional resume. While working side-by-side with the Lighting Department staff, interns gain hands-on experience in all aspects of theatrical lighting from hanging, circuiting, and focus calls to special effects, production paperwork, and equipment maintenance. Interns even have the opportunity to join the electrics run crew for certain productions, and may work closely with sound, projections, and production intercom. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of theatrical lighting and electrics, be comfortable with heights, and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. This internship is based on a 40 hour work week and the intern receives a weekly stipend of $175 to assist with living expenses.
While this internship is preferred to run as a year-long opportunity (end of May through beginning of May), it is also available as a summer internship (end of May through August) or as a season internship (August through May). Please specify in your application which internship length you prefer.
To apply for an internship, please email a cover letter and resume as a PDF to carriek@orlandorep.com with the subject line: Lighting Internship Application.
