JOB TITLE: House Manager (Summer Seasonal)
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
DATES: May 29 to August 25, 2023
The House Manager works as a member of a three-person Front of House team; they report to the Operations Manager and guide the work of two Front of House Apprentices. The primary goals of the position will include coordinating a smooth Front of House operation for each performance and providing a comfortable, pleasant patron experience with a high level of customer service. They will ensure the safety of patrons, volunteers, and staff through proper implementation and enforcement of emergency procedures. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, attention to detail, and independent work ethic are desirable. Comfort as a self-starter and the ability to work with a high degree of professionalism is preferred.
Responsibilities include:
Training and supervision of Front of House apprentices
Recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of volunteer ushers; leading usher orientations in the beginning of the season as well as condensed orientations prior to each performance.
Coordinate and collaborate with Box Office, Stage Management, Production, Operations, Audience Services, and other appropriate staff
Report and follow through on any malfunction and safety concerns in the Front of House and in the theater.
Work with Box Office to resolve seating problems and late arrivals for maximum patron satisfaction whenever possible.
Monitor the use of inappropriate cell phone/camera/recorder use by patrons.
Secure theater at end of performance, provide a performance report to appropriate staff
Must be available to work nights and weekends. Commitment to safe work habits and shop practices is essential. Must be willing to abide by Glimmerglass Festival’s current and potential future Covid-19 policies, including testing and wearing a mask on campus.
This position runs May 29 to August 25, 2023. Starts at $19.00/Hr. Includes housing.
