Virginia Children’s Theatre (VCT), the professional theatre in the commonwealth solely dedicated to youth, schools and their families, has an exciting opportunity for a candidate with strong customer service and sales experience to join the team as
Group Sales Manager. Reporting to the Producing Artistic Director, this hourly position will handle all group sales and tour bookings, with the goal of increasing group sales revenue. Candidates should possess a strong sales drive and have excellent multi-tasking, communication and organizational skills.
VCT produces a variety of high caliber professional broadway-style musicals, concerts, and issue driven plays each season. These productions are produced in the Roanoke Valley and toured throughout the commonwealth of Virginia.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated team player, committed to maintaining a superior level of customer service at all times and must be detail-oriented, customer-focused and results-driven. Candidate will work closely with Public Relations Manager and Director of Development to identify and maximize group ticket sales opportunities.
Duties will include:
Coordinate and process in-bound reservation requests for student matinee performances.
Coordinate and process in-bound ticket requests for groups to attend public performances.
Coordinate and process in-bound reservation requests for summer tour.
Perform out-bound sales calls to schools, organizations, churches and other groups inviting them to reserve tickets to student matinee and public performances.
Perform out-bound sales calls to libraries, community groups, performing arts centers and schools to increase reservations in the summer tour calendar.
Coordinate student matinee reservations with Jefferson Center Patron Services Manager.
Research opportunities in tourism and the group sales market.
Create and foster relationships with new and current groups.
Qualifications:
Previous sales, administrative and customer service experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Motivated, proactive and self-directed
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to coordinate events with multiple departments
Able to work evenings and weekend as needed around productions
Computer proficiency a must (MS Word, MS Excel, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
