Full-time TD / Carpenter - Curtain Call, Inc.

Curtain Call, Inc. is Stamford, CT’s longest-running, award-winning, year-round nonprofit theatre company. Our season usually consists of six main stage, six second stage productions and an annual outdoor Shakespeare production. Applicants should have degree(s) in theatre or at least one year experience in technical direction, production and/or scene shop management. This is a full-time, year-round position.(Somewhat flexible schedule.)



The Technical Director / Master Carpenter is responsible for creating build drawings and constructing scenic elements; maintaining shop equipment; the rigging of scenic elements and upkeep of the non-motorized fly system; the maintenance and inventory of stock scenic, lighting, and sound equipment; maintaining a safe work environment for all shop employees and volunteers; assisting in venue maintenance; creating and keeping-to build/load-in schedules; the loading in, striking, and storage of scenic, lighting, and sound elements. Purchasing of all shop and production related supplies, and maintaining relationships with relevant vendors.



The Technical Director oversees those hired-in to be Scenic Painters and Lighting Designers as well as oversees and teaches community volunteers to assist with construction, painting, hanging lights, etc. Some scenic design and/or lighting design needs as well. Sound design experience is extremely helpful, too.



The applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and use standard shop power tools.



Applicants need experience with non-motorized fly systems, general stage rigging, general theatrical construction and engineering, and Vectorworks. Preferred experience includes knowledge of ETC lighting consoles, the Allen & Heath SQ7 and Behringer X32 sound console.



Salary, plus health insurance, vacation and 401K plan. Position beginning mid to late summer 2022. Range: $55,000 to $65,000. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume and three references.
