Brazen Light Theater Company:
A new theater company, in development, that will launch in the 2021-2022 season. Currently being developed by the Artistic Director and Outreach Director, we are seeking to expand our leadership team to shape the company around our mission: To challenge ingrained prejudices through subversive theatrical productions and drama therapy outreach programs. We are seeking a Producing Director to assist in final development of the company structure and implementation of the business plan.
The Position:
This is a position for someone who has the desire to build a new company and be hands-on in its development. This position will be an equal partner and credited as a founder of this new company along with the Artistic Director and Outreach Director. They will have an equal vote on all decisions relating to company matters such as structure, policy, new hires, and programming. The focus of this position will be to: lead all fundraising programs to achieve financial stability and accomplish our goals, interact with the community at large to create an atmosphere that is positive, forward thinking, and inclusive, and work with both the Artistic and Outreach Directors to develop and implement their respective programming. The ideal candidate has an innovative artistic aesthetic, strong business skills, and exceptional communication skills that will elevate this theater to be a leader in the industry.

Main Responsibilities:
Work with Artistic and Outreach Directors to develop programming for the theater and close relationships with community organizations.
Serve as the lead fundraiser and create detailed plans to: Develop, implement, and enhance all aspects of annual fundraising programs, including Individual Giving, Major Gifts, Corporate Sponsorship, Foundation and Government Grants, and Planned Giving.
Host regular staff meetings and work with a DEI consultant [Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion] to maintain a commitment to fostering DEI in the workplace through staff meetings and new hires.
Work with the current team to expand leadership to include a Managing Director.
Work with leadership staff to create an advisory board made up of diverse perspectives that will assist in all artistic and outreach programming decisions.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:
Experience in fundraising for a nonprofit institution.
Experience leading teams and managing projects.
First-rate communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to manage input from multiple sources.
A hard worker who is willing to work hand-on in a variety of tasks which may include: set-up and take-down for events, and sending out mailings.
Understanding of theater practice and business and a strong artistic aesthetic that complements the company mission.
Compensation:
This is an opportunity for artists with strong business skills to foster their career as a leader in the industry and shape a company around their artistic voice. You will have an equal vote with the other two founders on decisions such as company structure, policies, hirings, and programming. We aim to provide salaries within 5-7 years, based on funding however, as a start-up, founding members will not receive a salary until funding is secured. You will have opportunities to work directly on productions and to teach through education programs. Compensation for teaching artists will be at a rate of at least $50/hour and production pay will be negotiated based on funding.
