JOB TITLE: Facilities Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
COMPENSATION RATE: $55,000/year
LOCATION: 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the hands-on implementation of the building maintenance program, protecting and improving the value of the Theatre’s facilities assets, ensuring building systems continue to perform their intended function, and supporting the built environment for all occupants. This individual interacts with other employees and outside vendors to support the Goodman’s artistic work. This is a full-time, salaried position with an exceptional benefits package. Successful candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend shifts for performance coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the first point of escalation for major facilities issues and emergencies
- Manage in-house staff of 2-3 facilities technicians and assistants
- Oversee and implements a best practice planned maintenance program using CMMS in collaboration with the Director of Operations
- Make recommendations for improving quality control to minimize critical system downtime
- Align tasks with the objectives set in the capital renewal plan and ensure successful completion
- Effectively communicate building-related issues with management and coworkers
- Collaborate with building service vendors, assisting as needed
- Perform and coordinate the maintenance and operation of building systems and occupant services
- Coordinate capital improvement projects as needed
- Document, report, and record all maintenance
- Administer the building automation system and computerized maintenance management system
- Prepare and submit purchase order requests
- Maintain an adequate inventory of tools, supplies, and parts required to maintain the building
- Serve as the backup for the Director of Operations
- Additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance and projects management
- Knowledgeable and experienced in best industry practices including reliability-centered maintenance, safety standards, energy management practices, and other cost-effective solutions
- Associate degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Strong people management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proven critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders
- MS Office, BAS, and CMMS software experience required
- Industry certifications and licenses (SMT, SMA, BOC, CFC), including OSHA safety training preferred
- Theatre or Live Entertainment Venue experience beneficial but not required
- Capable of performing physical labor, maneuvering 60 lbs. or more, negotiating ladders, and working from heights of up to 30 feet and from unusual angles to fix equipment
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
