Executive Director - Part-Time - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - BLACK THEATRE NETWORK

The Black Theatre Network (BTN) a service organization whose members include theatre-makers (actors, directors, playwrights, designers, etc.), scholars, students, and instructors, seeks a dynamic individual to step into the role of Executive Director. For 35 years, BTN has been successfully administered by a volunteer executive board of directors, with two part-time paid employee positions-a business manager and a web manager. A substantial grant from the Black Seed Initiative has made it possible for BTN to initiate the process of identifying and hiring a part-time executive director. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with BTN and global majority theatre environments. Primary duties include: • Consulting with the Executive Board to oversee strategic planning for BTN • Attending and addressing a monthly BTN Executive Board meeting • Attending BTN's annual conference and mid-year conference planning meetings • Ensuring that initiatives of BTN are successfully implemented and properly executed • Working with the Development Director to assure that BTN is in compliance with all grant conditions, terms and filing timelines/deadlines • Creating programs that will expand the membership and services offered by BTN • Working as an advocate for BTN nationally and internationally • Collaborating with the Development Director to identify funders and establish long-term goals, relationships and plans-of-action • Overseeing the functions of the Business Manager and the Web Manager Qualifications: • Must have 7-10 years of administrative experience working in an arts organization, including grants and fundraising • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) • Working experience with a theatre or arts organization primarily focused on serving artists, scholars, students, and educators • Knowledge of black theatre organizations Salary commensurate with experience.
