Under the leadership of Artistic Director David Saint and Managing Director Kelly Ryman, George Street Playhouse (GSP) is a nationally recognized theatre organization in New Brunswick, NJ, presenting an acclaimed mainstage season while providing an artistic home for established and emerging theatre artists. Founded in 1974 as the first producing theater in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the Playhouse has been represented by numerous productions both on and off-Broadway. As part of its mission “to enrich lives by producing world-class theatre” the GSP education department is introducing a new vision for students, educators, community and industry.

George Street Playhouse is seeking an Education Administrative Support Associate to join the Education Department. Enthusiasm and appreciation for theater and some experience and knowledge of arts administration is preferred. Applicants must be an enthusiastic “can-do” team player who can think on their feet to resourcefully solve problems, demonstrate grace under pressure and manage competing priorities within deadlines. Spanish/English bi-lingual candidates preferred, and are encouraged to apply.
The Education Administrative Support Associate will:
- Provide critical administrative support to the Director of Education, education department staff, and department contractors as needed
-Schedule education related meetings, create and maintain digital notes, calendars, checklists and communications updates
Coordinate, make and manage all space requests for the department
- Update and maintain overall department calendar
- Organize, develop and maintain GSP education department digital and hard copy library for all departmental needs
- Coordinate with the marketing department to track, manage and maintain department media projects, photos, video and publicity materials
- Follow complex processes consistently. Position responsibilities include; Organize, update and enter data for all departmental expenses and tracking
- Support the maintenance of departmental protocol
- Work with the Box Office to track department comp ticket requests
- Create media presentations as needed for various meetings and events
- Create, organize and update department mail and digital databases; Residencies, Committees, Donors, etc.
- Assist in residency final sharing needs as needed
- Maintain office supplies and coordinate equipment needs
- Provide general department administrative support for projects as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- Energetic team member who consistently demonstrates a professional demeanor
- Highschool diploma or current arts student in arts related degree
- Experience in stage management or arts administration and community engagement
- Up to date computer skills, including the ability to learn and manage various information system technologies
- Competent in Excel, Power Point, Prezi, Adobe Illustrator
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to set priorities, work collaboratively, and take initiative
- Spanish/English bi-lingual candidates preferred
An integral member of the Education Department, this position reports to the Director of Education.
The position is full-time and is New Jersey-based.
The anticipated start date for this position is May 2022.
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster is required.
Hours: M- F 9:00 am - 5:00 pm with some evenings and weekends required.
