New Stage Theatre, Mississippi’s professional theatre located in Jackson, is seeking actors for its upcoming production of the musical comedy Elf The Musical with book by Thomas Meehan & Bob Martin; Music by Matthew Sklar; Lyrics by Chad Beguelin. The show will be directed by William (Peppy) Biddy with musical direction by Carol Joy Sparkman.
Rehearsals begin on November 7, 2023. The show opens on November 30 and plays through December 21, 2023.

Seeking submissions for the following characters:
BUDDY – (High Baritone/Tenor. Range: Low A flat to High C) Any ethnicity, male identifying, age 30s to 40s but boyish. Born a human but raised at the North Pole as a Christmas Elf, Buddy is eager to find his place in the world. He is a child at heart and that child-like curiosity makes him both endearing and gets him into trouble.
JOVIE – (Mezzo Soprano/Alto. Range: G (below middle C) to High F, strong belt) Any ethnicity, female identifying, age 20s to 30s, warm, funny and comedic. Buddy’s girlfriend. She works at Macy’s and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and love because of the men she’s dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy’s genuinely big heart.
WALTER – (High Baritone/Tenor. Range: Low A to High G) Any ethnicity, male identifying, age 50s. He is an upscale successful business man who has become cold and distant with his family until Buddy enters their life. He is a workaholic with little time left for enjoying life or appreciating simple things.
EMILY – (Mezzo Soprano. Range: A flat (below middle C) to D, strong belt) Female identifying, age 40s, Walter’s wife. Though she is sweet and willing to take him in, she thinks Buddy is crazy at first. Wishes her husband would spend more time with the family.
The following roles will also be members of the ensemble
DEB – (Mezzo Soprano/Alto. Range: Middle C to D, strong belt) Any ethnicity, female identifying, age 30s to 40s, Walter’s secretary. Takes an instant liking to Buddy simply for the novelty of it. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-up, she feels under appreciated.
MR. GREENWAY – (High Baritone/Tenor. Range: D sharp to High A) Any ethnicity, male identifying, age 45-65, Walter’s boss. He is what Walter will become if he continues down the path he is on. A tyrannical, workaholic who cares nothing about the people around him or who work for him.
SANTA – (Baritone: Range: Low A to E above middle C). Any ethnicity, male identifying, age 50s to 70s, Just another workingman. Loves his job and Christmas, but also likes to kick-back and watch the game when a rare opportunity arises. A natural storyteller.
MANAGER – (Baritone/Tenor. Range:B2toF#4) Any ethnicity, male identifying, age 25-45, Manager at Macy’s. He is a good, friendly guy just trying to do his job and get by.
Salary: $450 - $638 + travel and housing for traveling guest artists
