Director of Production - Gulfshore Playhouse

GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION



Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and experienced individual to serve as Director of Production.



Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.



Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is currently building a brand new, state-of-the-art 40,000sf facility, featuring two theatres and an education space. It is anticipated the building will open in late 2023.



Status: Full time, year-round position



Start Date: As soon as possible



Representative Duties:



- Overseeing all production departments in realizing the vision of the theatre as seen by Producing Artistic Director and the vision of each individual production as seen by the creative team of that production

- Facilitating communication within and between production departments, administration, artistic staff, and guest artists

- Ensuring safety and policy adherence

- Maintaining production schedule including the scheduling of production meetings, work calls, shop hours, staff, interns, overhire, and volunteers

- Coordinating, or assist with coordinating, all rentals for production departments

- Managing/Supervising all load-ins and load-outs

- Supervising and assisting with hiring seasonal staff members

- Hiring designers and stage managers for productions

- Managing and maintaining production budgets, deadlines, and schedules for all departments

- Ensuring compliance with theatre policies by coordinating schedules, maintaining good working relationships, and keeping all rented facilities and equipment in good working condition

- Overseeing the production elements of in-season and summer educational programming



The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful production management, a willingness to ensure high-quality work in every aspect of production, excellent budgetary, communication, and organizational skills, and leadership capabilities. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of all production departments, a wide understanding of build techniques and stage systems, a positive attitude and creative approach to problem solving. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. The Director of Production will be expected to work extended hours during tech and on occasion when necessary to meet goals. Some weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at Opening Nights, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.



Qualifications:



The ideal candidate would possess:



Three to five years’ experience in production management or technical theatre

Experience working in a not-for-profit organization

Strong management, interpersonal and planning skills

Familiarity with Theatre and/or Performing Arts required

Salary: $80,000-$85,000 annually plus excellent benefits
