Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. Reporting to the AVP of Advancement, the Director of Corporate Relations will oversee corporate partnerships and giving at BAM. They will develop and drive relationships with companies to maximize contributed revenue opportunities and engage corporate members with our year-long programming calendar. This role will also work closely with Programming and the larger Advancement team and will be responsible for developing and executing a 360° corporate philanthropy strategy, inclusive of pipeline buildout, proposal development, pitch meetings, and benefit fulfillment.
In addition, oversee and implement initiatives to maximize corporate partnerships and scale this revenue over time. Cultivating a strong portfolio of ongoing sponsorships that maximize campus activation and increase investment in the BAM brand over time. Liaise with internal stakeholders to align proposals and partnership activations with upcoming program offerings. In collaboration with Marketing, develop brand activations and sharing of social media and marketing assets as needed to drive partnership value and ROI for corporate partners. Reactivate BAM’s corporate membership program, to evolve the offerings to align with post-pandemic corporate social responsibility and employee retention strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Solicit, manage, and secure corporate funding to meet or exceed annual revenue goals set by the Chief Growth Officer.
Oversee the creation of all proposals, renewals, reports, and contract agreements for corporate donors in a reasonable timeframe, working with Creative and other cross-functional stakeholders to deliver exciting and unique partnership opportunities.
Cultivate current sponsors and long-lead sponsorship prospects, including invitations to ongoing engagement opportunities.
Reconstitute the Corporate Membership program.
Partner cross-functionally on generating special events underwriting and income.
Engineer corporate communications calendar to keep partners engaged and informed.
Oversee Strategic Partnerships Manager in ensuring development operations process for corporate giving is accurate in revenue tracking, prospect plan management, and constituent data.
Supervise Strategic Partnerships Manager and grow, develop, and retain team over time.
Qualifications
7+ years of demonstrated experience in corporate fundraising and/or sponsorship and/or sales, performing arts experience a plus.
Ability to develop and strategize sponsorship requests.
Exemplary proposal writing and editing skills—both sponsorship requests and performing arts grants.
Experience as a supervisor and people manager.
Demonstrated track record of pitching and closing new corporate partnerships.
Ability to maintain effective relations with donors and prospects.
Attention to the finest detail.
Ability to delegate, prioritize, and manage many tasks.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience in managing income and expense budgets.
Experience in managing administrative duties of the office (keeping track of files, database, supplies, etc.) Ability to inspire, coach, train, and develop other staff members to drive for results in overall fundraising goal.
Lead the Corporate Relations team by example, finding solutions to create and maintain a high level of sponsor satisfaction.
Ability to work remote and in-person.
Compensation: The salary for this position is $145K – 150K per year. This position is full-time, exempt, and eligible for benefits.
