George Street Playhouse, a professional, producing theatre company 40 minutes from Manhattan, seeks experienced Covid Safety Manager to supervise and implement a COVID safety plan for the Playhouse’s upcoming production of Joy, The Musical.
The Covid Safety Manager is an employee of the George Street Playhouse Production department, and reports directly to the General Manager. This position works closely with various groups – visiting artists, production team members, union crews and guests.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assist George Street Playhouse Company Manager and a second Covid Safety Manager to implement the production’s Covid Safety Plan
- Oversee weekly Covid-19 testing of Joy, The Musical production personnel including monitoring results and reordering tests as necessary in New York City during rehearsals, and in New Brunswick, NJ during performances
- Provide Covid-19 PPE education and training for the staff and crew, and monitor all spaces (rehearsal room, theater, dressing rooms, etc) to ensure all workers are following the standard best practices for proper use of PPE, hand washing, and social distancing to ensure safe work practices
- Remain knowledgeable on current/new developments in health and safety to improve quality and efficacy of production processes
Provide reports to management regarding safety concerns, violations, and compliance
- Ensure that all safety and PPE supplies are stocked and ordered
- Assist in organizing safe meal setups
- Isolating and reporting any personnel who develops symptoms of COVID-19
Requirements:
- A working understanding of COVID-19 symptoms, how the virus is spread, and how best to avoid it
- Competent with basic computer programs such as Word, Excel and G-suite
- Valid US driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and strong sense of professionalism
- Ability to lead small teams with a positive attitude
- Be a “can-do” team player who can make thoughtful decisions quickly and demonstrates grace under pressure
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, initiate, problem solve, and diplomatic
- Flexible, adaptable, and works well under pressure
Working Conditions:
- This is a contracted position beginning October 24, 2022 and ending on December 30, 2022.
- Night and weekend availability is required for production related needs. Day time availability will be needed during rehearsals but will switch to night time during performances.
- This position requires exposure to testing equipment and bodily fluids.
- This position requires high levels of movement.
COVID-19 vaccination, including all eligible boosters, is a condition of employment. COVID policies are updated regularly to reflect the current local and national health recommendations.
George Street Playhouse currently requires all employees to wear respirator style masks (N95, KN95, KF94). Members of the Production Group will also test per the current COVID policy at the company's expense.
The Opportunity:
Position pays a weekly salary of $925.00, based on a 40-hour work week for 10 weeks. Position begins October 24, 2022 and runs through December 30, 2022.
