Costume Technician - Seasonal - Gulfshore Playhouse

Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in Naples, FL is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Costume Technican. Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.



Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200 seat venue at the Norris Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is currently in the middle of a $66M capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art theatre and education center, featuring two theatres and education space. The project is currently in the construction phase.



Job Duties include but not limited to:



Assist Costume Shop Manager and Draper in the build, load-in, strike, and general upkeep of each production

Assists with building costumes and alterations

Serve as wardrobe crew for assigned productions

Assists in fittings

Assists designers with pulling of costumes

Restocks costume pieces

Follow through with completion of daily notes as assigned by Costume Shop Manager,

Wardrobe Supervisor, or Draper.

Adhere to all safety protocols at all times

Any other duties as assigned

Provide support for special events and other departments as needed

The ideal candidate is a detail oriented and friendly person who is ready to learn and grow at a regional theater. They would have experience working in a costume shop and should have intermediate sewing skills. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. Employee will be expected to work extended hours on occasion when necessary to meet goals. Some weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.



Qualifications:



One to two years experience in the field (including at the college level)

Classwork or experience in costume construction, hair/makeup or wardrobe

Experience other technical areas preferred but not required.

Contract Dates:



Full Time Seasonal Position From August 28, 2023 – May 24, 2024



Compensation:



$14-$16/hr with overtime after 40 hours in a week DOE



Benefits:



Housing with private bedroom and shared living space available for $900-$1150 per month deducted from salary. Internet and cable included with washer and dryer in apartment. Apartment complex has a pool and fitness center on site.



Travel Stipend available



10 days PTO
