Costume Technician (wardrobe/stitcher) - Trinity Repertory Company

Job Title: Costume Technician (Wardrobe/Stitcher)



Department: Costumes



Reports To: Costume Shop Director, Shop Supervisor



FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Seasonal Full-time



Pay Tier: 3



Compensation: $625-$660/week (37 weeks), competitive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, voluntary supplemental benefits, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and paid holidays.



Desired Start Date: July 11, 2022



Summary: Under general direction, alternates Wardrobe (show call) duties and Stitcher (shop call) duties throughout the season



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:



Responsibilities while on Show Call:



· Prepares wardrobe paperwork for the run of the show (i.e. dressing lists, preset checklists, run sheets)



· Sets up logical and effective changing areas and ensures quick changes go smoothly



· Carries out the preset accurately and consistently



· Carries out cleaning, pressing, steaming, mending, repairing, and replacing as necessary for each show



· Ensures that all costumes are ready to wear at showtime



· Keeps laundry room and wardrobe spaces clean and tidy, letting supervisors know when show supplies are needed



· Keeps costumes and accessories for show in order



· May need to carry out daily wig maintenance and assist actors with hair/wig needs during the show



· Strikes the show at the end of the run



· May be a lead over the seasonal apprentice when paired on a show together acting as a mentor while they assist in Wardrobe duties that the Costume Tech assigns them



Responsibilities while on Shop Call:



· Carries out all constructing, stitching, and alteration projects as assigned



· May assist in note taking and fittings



· Assists with strike and/or pull



· Assists with unpacking/packing and shopping/rental returns



· Assists with construction, ventilation, and alterations for wigs/hairpieces/facial hair



· Other duties as assigned



Qualifications:

Certifications:

Experience / Education:



Three or more years of professional experience and/or training in theatrical costuming, stitching, and running wardrobe; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Technical Skills/Knowledge:



Effective communication skills, proficient sewing construction and alteration skills, basic crafting. Experience in construction, ventilation, and alterations for wigs/hairpieces/facial hair preferred.



Computer Skills:



Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, Word) and internet software
