Colorado New Musical Festival Submissions - Wellspring Theatre

Wellspring is proud to announce submissions are now open for the Fourth Annual Colorado New Musical Festival (CNMF)!



Submissions are due through Submittable no later than April 30, 2023.



Authors and composers are encouraged to submit original, completed or draft, musical theater pieces in part or in whole for juried review.



Selected works will be presented as simple staged readings in a free festival format for live audiences in August 2023 in Broomfield, CO.



CNMF aims to bring attention to the works of diverse and under-resourced perspectives in art. As musical theater shows are notoriously difficult to bring to professional production, we hope authors and composers will utilize this opportunity to learn from ways their works are interpreted by a creative team and use the information to enhance their pieces toward final readiness for publication.



We hope audiences will benefit from broadened awareness of cultural experiences, artistic representation of diverse experiences, and heightened community celebration of the arts.



Please keep in mind, works must be suitable for performance with a piano, guitar, and vocalization. Elaborate blocking, installations, or visual settings cannot be considered. For works requiring more elaborate musical arrangements, provisions must be included to use author/composer performance-ready, pre-recorded tracks.

There is no monitary compensation at this time for participants. Those selected will be featured in the reading and will have the oppourtunity to be a part of and involved in workshops, networking oppourtunities, and access to resources as needed and available for the work.
