Jim Carnahan Casting is a New York based casting office with a focus on theatre. We work extensively on Broadway as well as the West End with over 150 Broadway shows and counting. We currently have seven shows running on Broadway, one off-Broadway and a National Tour. Next season is looking to include another 5 or 6 Broadway shows as well as numerous workshops and out of town productions.
We are seeking a Casting Assistant for the office. This is a full-time, in office position. Among the projects this position will be working on includes the Broadway productions of: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Stranger Things: The First Shadow and Merrily We Roll Along.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Working closely with the creative team, associate team, and other casting staff to organize and implement all aspects of the casting process.
· High volume communication with agents and managers to discern availabilities, confirm appointments, coordinate logistics, and make offers.
· Updating and tracking actor status sheets.
· Organizing large scale dance calls and nationwide searches.
· Composing and releasing breakdowns, Equity notices and open call material.
· Prepping audition materials, conducting research and sourcing video footage to educate stakeholders.
· Filming, uploading, and editing virtual auditions.
· Regular correspondence with stakeholders to ensure open lines of communication and appropriate information sharing.
· Attending auditions, performances, showcases and other industry events to identify new talent.
· Maintaining project-specific and office-wide databases, calendars, tickets and tracking systems.
· Submitting and tracking invoices.
Tracking and coordinating schedules including auditions, meetings, theatre, travel, etc.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
· Bachelor's degree program in acting, production, or a related field preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
· Superb organizational and time management abilities.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to multi-task across several projects simultaneously.
· Knowledge of script analysis, acting techniques, and industry trends.
· Knowledge of artistic production environments.
· Interest in attending live theatre on a regular basis.
· Proficiency in office software, such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.
· A strong ability to identify and source talented actors.
· Experience as a casting assistant, or a similar role is a plus.
· Proficiency with Breakdown Express is a plus.
Working Conditions:
· Regular office hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm – additionally some nights and weekends will be required.
· This is an in person in office position.
· Jim Carnahan Casting offices are located on 7th Avenue between 34th and 35th Street in New York City.
· Small, collaborative office of 6 working in an open office plan.
