MOXIE Theatre is currently seeking a Box Office & Sales Associate who is passionate about MOXIE’s mission to create more diverse and honest images of women+ for our culture, and excited to work in the performing arts. MOXIE produces a four-play season every year, as well as an annual gala and some smaller engagement events. Each production runs for 4 to 5 weeks in our space in the College Area of San Diego. The Box Office & Sales Associate will work primarily at the theatre, with the possibility of working some hours remotely. Working hours include evenings and weekends during the shows, and daytime weekdays in between shows.
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Starting at $16.50-19/hour depending on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
BOX OFFICE (50%)
- Managing ticket and subscription sales through MOXIE’s ticketing software (AudienceView/OvationTix) and processing payments.
- Answering the box office phone, returning messages, and processing over-the-phone sales during box office hours.
- All communications with subscribers for reservations and exchanges.
- Processing complimentary tickets for actors, production teams, staff, partner organizations, etc., and processing gift cards and ticket vouchers.
- Placing tickets on sale through third-party vendors such as Goldstar, Fill-a-Seat, etc.
- Generate weekly ticket sales reports and end-of-show reports.
- Managing the box office counter on performance days: checking patrons in, selling rush tickets, preparing and sending nightly box office reports.
- Reconciling Box Office & Concessions Cash each week during performances.
SALES (30%)
- Working with the Executive Artistic Director and the Development Director to set subscription and individual production sales goals.
- Creating a sales plan for each production to generate new & returning single ticket buyers and group ticket sales.
- Creating a sales plan to grow MOXIE’s subscription base each season.
- Generating contact lists, drafting and sending emails and follow up calls to potential groups, including outreach to nonprofit and community organizations.
- Working with the Marketing team to create special discount offers.
FRONT OF HOUSE (15%)
- Training and overseeing Front of House volunteers (House Managers and Ushers).
- Scheduling volunteer House Managers for each production and collaborating with Usher Coordinator to schedule ushers.
- Maintain concession inventory.
OTHER (5%)
- Supporting Development staff with special events' planning and execution, and donor communications. Process donations.
- Managing inventory of office supplies.
- Updating box office procedures and maintaining clear records of them. Adhering with company policies and offering input on possible changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional experience working in sales and/or customer service. Experience in the performing arts a plus.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, including over the phone etiquette.
- Strong motivation to drive sales and reach set goals.
- Self-starter, independent worker.
- Detailed oriented and well organized.
- Experience with a variety of software tools and ease with technology preferred.
- A passion for supporting women+’s voices and deep respect for equity, diversity, inclusion, and access.
Salary: $16.50-$19/hr
