Associate Lighting Supervisor

The Associate Lighting Supervisor position reports to the Lighting Supervisor and will provide professional supervision and expert knowledge regarding the theatrical lighting systems and lighting equipment for all clients, as well as having direct involvement in the entire process of actualizing projects produced and presented by the Office of the Arts. This role will maintain all lighting systems, equipment, and technical documentation across assigned performing venues and associated support spaces. This is an important role that requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a passion for theatrical production.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Assist the Lighting Supervisor and Assistant Lighting Supervisor in executing theater events and productions.
• Coordinate equipment rental and lighting plots.
• Schedule and supervise intermittent employees, ensuring that equipment is installed safely and to designed specifications.
• Provide guidance and training to other employees as necessary.
• Serve as the Technical Supervisor on Duty for shows as required.
• Create, maintain, and distribute accurate technical documentation for the lighting systems in each performance venue, including for lighting infrastructure, inventories of equipment, CAD drawings of the venues, and lighting plots for events and productions.
• Maintain and service all theatrical lighting systems and equipment for all performance venues, ensuring that lighting infrastructure is fully functioning on a day-to-day basis.
• Troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues as they arise, enabling venues to operate properly on a day-to-day basis.
• Provide support to clients and Emerson Stage members by providing information regarding Office of the Arts equipment and facilities and reviewing lighting plots and paperwork.
• Offer technical advice and mentorship to students and clients as required.
• Complete all necessary administrative work.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
• Bachelor's Degree in Theatrical Technology or related discipline required
• 3-5 years of experience as an electrician required. Experience as a stage electrician preferred
• Experience in crew management required
• Experience with theatrical rigging and counterweight fly systems required
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
• Knowledge of stage lighting and projection equipment, and the ability to install, use, repair, and maintain commonly-used equipment
• Understanding of and a basic proficiency in computer-aided drafting
• Proficiency in using MS Office and G Suite
• Knowledge of the theatrical industry and OSHA safety procedures and practices
• Self-starter with good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in high-stress situations with varied personalities

• This position is active in nature, continuous movement is required.
• Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with co-workers and supervisors is essential.
• Repetitive movements, frequent lifting of up to 100 pounds, reaching, pushing, stooping, climbing, and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be expected.
