Job Summary
Reporting directly to and working in concert with the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Associate Director of Development will serve as the collaborating manager with all development staff to create optimal portfolios and strategic prospect pipelines, provide planning and administrative support for the theater’s numerous special events, and maintain a portfolio of individual donors and prospects—all working together to achieve ambitious fundraising targets and secure comprehensive philanthropic support for the theater through philanthropic campaigns and development-focused event support.
Position Description
Individual Giving
Manage a key portfolio of individual donors and prospects that contribute and have capacity to contribute major gifts.
Identify and cultivate effective relationships of supporters in Individual Giving circles including the Friends of A.R.T., the A.R.T. Patron Circle, and Artistic Director Circle.
Effectively manage the involvement of the theater’s senior leadership team and key partners with fundraising engagement involving assigned prospects.
In collaboration with the CDO, support the alignment of development operations, institutional events strategy and execution, and individual giving needs alongside the department’s annual strategic plan and assists in the successful implementation of philanthropic strategy.
Board Engagement & Cultivation
Manage and execute philanthropic efforts to maintain a high level of engagement from the Board of Trustees (~40 members) and the Board of Advisors (~35 members) to advance a culture of prioritized philanthropy, cultivating and soliciting additional support, and leveraging the boards’ respective networks to expand the donor base and support of the A.R.T.
Collaborating closely with Executive Director, the CDO, and board leadership, provide strategic assessment of board composition and serve as secondary staff lead for new board member recruitment and onboarding activities.
Develop and manage the boards’ fundraising efforts and communications as needed including the production and distribution of any requisite materials (prospect research, board materials, reports, etc.).
Additional Responsibilities
Build prospect pipelines and donor moves management plans for various A.R.T. programming and fundraising projects.
Resolve prospect management, portfolio composition, and proposal data integrity issues.
Maintain records of various plan steps and moves management for both the Capital Campaign and Annual Fund campaigns.
Lead or partner with the University Development Office to expand and refine the prospect pool, improve portfolio development and optimization efforts, and manage the fair and equitable distribution of prospects to gift officers and fundraising projects.
Communicate and provide direction on prospect management protocols and activities through Tessitura.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications to be considered for this role:
Bachelor's degree required.
5+ years of progressive experience in development.
