DATES: 3/7/22 – 5/22/22 (possible extension to 5/29/22)

REPORTING TO: Stage Management, Company Manager, Lead Young Performer Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Drury Lane Theatre seeks a Production Assistant/Assistant Young Performer Supervisor (AYPS) to work with the Stage Management team and Company Management on our production of RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN’S THE KING AND I. The PA/AYPS will be essential member of the company who will be responsible for assisting Stage Management during rehearsals and care of the children’s cast throughout rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and all performances.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Assistant – 

  • Attend all pre-production SM (Stage Management) team prep work calls, pre-production meetings, production meetings.
  • Arrive to all rehearsals 30 minutes before and stay 30 minutes after the actors’ call.
  • Working with SM team to ensure a productive rehearsal room including, but not limited to:
    • Preparing and copying paperwork
    • Rehearsal hall set-up and clean up
    • Hospitality
    • Taking line notes and rehearsing lines with actors 
    • Executing the setting, striking and tracking of properties during rehearsals
  • Assisting the SM team with the preparation and execution of technical rehearsals including, but not limited to:
    • Preparing Tech paperwork and noting changes
    • Backstage set-up & safety preparations
    • Assistance with technical element execution
    • Other duties as assigned and needed for the rehearsal process

Assistant Young Performer Supervisor - 

  • Assist Lead Young Performer Supervisor as needed.
  • Responsible for the supervision, welfare, and management of all Young Performers at all times.
  • Provide supervision during meal breaks.
  • Meet Young Performers in the lobby/stage door when dropped off and deliver them to their parents at the end of rehearsal/performances.
  • Escort Young Performers to and from the stage for all entrances and exits.
  • Communicate with Parents/Guardians and Stage Management to ensure that the needs of the Young Performers are met.
  • Assist the Young Performers with the tracking of blocking and choreography and the learning lines and/or music as necessary.
  • Abide by all rules and regulations put forth by Drury Lane Theatre.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Coming to work promptly and regularly.
  • Managing personal workflow effectively, completing tasks assigned accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Problem solving and reacting to change productively and professionally.
  • Taking direction and working well with others.
  • Behaving professionally within the work environment.
  • Willingness to perform other tasks as assigned and working as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Stage Management and/or Teaching Experience beneficial
  • Understanding of theatrical rehearsal procedures, and performance etiquette
  • Reliable Transportation
  • A background check will be required
  • Drury Lane Theatre requires proof of full vaccination and booster (when eligible) for employment. Exemptions due to medical or closely held religious beliefs will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
