POSITION SUMMARY



The Assistant Director of Production is the front-facing representative for the Green Center for the Performing Arts and Creative School events. The manager is responsible for managing event planning and overseeing logistics and operations in support of the public venues in the Green Center and Creative School.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

 

Production Management



• Manage and coordinate all aspects of the production process for Theatre productions including technical requirements, and resource allocation, maintaining budgets, and coordination between production departments.



• Manage the technical elements for Green Center for the Performing Arts events, as assigned, by preparing venues, communicating with event stakeholders, performers re: needs, schedule, etc. This may necessitate working weekday, evening, and weekend events.



• Develop a weekly plan for event setups, technical needs, and staffing in conjunction with the Director of Production.



• Monitor all event setup and technical requests, and delegate as appropriate.



• Monitor spaces to ensure setups and crowd control meet safety standards.



• Manage post-production activities including strike and post-mortem surveys.



• Assist in technical areas to include scenic build/install, lighting, audio, and video.



• Supervise and mentor student staff in production roles.



Administrative



• Maintain the Performing Arts Production Staff project management software as it relates to production goals.



• Collaborate with the Director of Production to set overall priorities for staffing, budgets and schedules.



• Manage inventories of equipment and supplies.



• Advise on season calendar development.



• Provide periodic support of events in back-of-house role or on-site support for artists in residence.



• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements



Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Applicants with comparable experience in theatrical production will be substituted for education. 


Experience: A minimum of four years of professional experience in technical theatre and production work required. Experience in sound, lighting, carpentry, and video install and operation preferred.

 

Communication/Language: Basic: Ability to read, listen to and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write and communicate simple correspondence.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Calendar and Google Apps, and Online Data Entry. Experience with online ticketing systems is desirable.

 

 

Other Requirements:



• Extensive organizational skills.



• Must be available on some nights and weekends as events occur.
