Organizational Profile
Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Le Petit is one of the oldest theatres in the country; this year, it celebrates its 100th year in the same space at the corner of St. Peter and Chartres Streets, on Jackson Square. LPT was originally organized in 1916 as the New Orleans Chapter of the Drama League of America and one year later as the Drawing Room Players where it quickly became known as the place to see live theatre in the South. Continuously growing audiences soon made it clear that a larger space was needed, and in 1922, the theatre bought the property at its present location. The theater underwent a major renovation in 2011; the old building space now encompasses celebrated restaurant Tableau as well as LPT.
