The Singing Sergeants, the official chorus of the United States Air Force in Washington, D.C., has a vacancy for an alto vocalist. We are looking for a skilled ensemble and solo singer who has the ability to sing in multiple genres. This is an amazing way to have a stable, salaried singing career with performances all over the United States including the White House, sporting events, and with major orchestras around the country. Pay and benefits include:

★ Annual Starting Salary: $67,676–$70,160

★ Full military benefits

★ 30 days of vacation

★ Post 9-11 GI Bill for college up to $80,000

★ Four-year minimum enlistment required

★ Maximum age at time of enlistment is 39



Information for the pre-screening round:

Please submit your professional resume and three audio recordings that match the following criteria:

1. One aria or art song.

2. One jazz standard or Broadway-style selection from any era.

3. One pop, rock, or country selection.

- At least one of the three selections must be in a language other

than English.

- All recordings should be performed live with piano or instrumental

accompaniment.*

Versatility is a key quality of any successful candidate. Please maintain the integrity of each chosen musical style, as

the Singing Sergeants require skills and strengths in many different genres and musical contexts.

*Attention should be given to provide a clear recording of your voice with good accompaniment balance. Studio

processing (auto-tuning, Beat Detective) is discouraged.

The Singing Sergeants is the official chorus of the United States Air Force. Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., it is one of six musical ensembles that form The U.S. Air Force Band. Featuring 24 active-duty musicians, the Singing Sergeants support military and civilian ceremonial and diplomatic functions, education outreach events, and concerts throughout metropolitan Washington, D.C., and the United States.

Formed initially as a men's chorus in 1945 from the rank and file of The U.S. Army Air Forces Band, the Singing Sergeants became the first premier military chorus to enlist women in 1973, diversifying their mission and increasing their scope of musical versatility. Today, the group's members often perform for the Department of Defense and other high-level military and civilian functions, using music to bridge language and cultural differences and helping advance positive diplomatic relations through song. The chorus is regularly featured at regional and national music education conferences, including the American Choral Directors Association, the Music Educators National Conference, and Chorus America. At varied venues, the Singing Sergeants reach a diverse audience with the beauty and power of music.
