Starlight Theatre is seeking an energetic, dynamic and motivated Accountant to join our team! This position focuses primarily on accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and occasionally assists with other accounting tasks as deemed appropriate/merited.
Primary Payroll Responsibilities:
Process and balance weekly and bi-weekly payroll, as few as 2 up to 200 people including hourly and salaried personnel using Kronos/UKG software.
Prepare system reconciliations as necessary including reconciling insurance vendor invoices to insurance expense & related payroll reports.
Update personnel accounts as needed with tax changes, garnishments, insurance benefits and deductions, and other changes as merited.
Prepare union remittances.
Reconciliation of tax remittances and related W-2’s (prepared by payroll company).
Write payroll reports as needed from the Kronos/UKG database.
Primary Accounts Payable Responsibilities:
Process payment requests to vendors after verifying appropriate approval and compliance with spending policies.
Compile, input and reconcile vendor invoices weekly in order to produce weekly vendor payments.
Ensure AP is maintained accurately and timely.
Reconcile expense reports and related accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Review credit card expense transactions for coding and documentation.
Maintain prepaid and accrued expense account schedules.
Preparation of annual 1099’s.
Manage database of fixed assets.
Properly classify capital expenditures and track against pre-approved budgets.
Reconcile depreciation rollforward and monitor for completeness.
Review contract and procurement documentation to ensure policy compliance.
Other Accounting Responsibilities:
Assist with cash processing of nightly deposits during season.
Prepare schedules and reconciliations as merited.
Complete other projects as assigned by VP of Finance & Accounting Manager.
The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written). This person must be self-directed, have strong attention to details, retain and utilize facts appropriately, and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, fluid environment. We are also looking for someone who will understand and commit to inclusion, diversity, equity and access at Starlight. Effective project management, time management, problem solving skills, analytical ability, accuracy and the ability to work collaboratively are a priority.
Minimum Qualifications:
2-5 years of experience in accounting with experience in accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets & reconciliations.
An accounting degree is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Acumatica software is preferred.
Knowledge of Kronos/UKG payroll software is a plus.
