ASC Seeking Applications for Wardrobe/Dresser/Stitcher - 2023 Artistic Year - American Shakespeare Center

The American Shakespeare Center (Staunton, VA) is seeking WARDROBE MANAGERS + DRESSERS / CUTTER + DRAPERS for our 2023 Artistic Year and/or for Future Consideration.



Our 2023 Spring Season will feature a rep company of 7 performing Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT and Sarah Ruhl's EURYDICE. Our Summer Season will feature a 13 actor rep performing Shakespeare's HAMLET, MEASURE FOR MEASURE and BOOK OF WILL by Lauren Gunderson. The Fall Season will include an extended run of Shakespeare's HAMLET, as well as Renaissance-Style productions of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW and CORIOLANUS



The ASC was formed in 1988 in Central Virginia, and in 2001 the Blackfriars Playhouse was built - the world's only recreation of Shakespeare's indoor theatre.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Daily Laundry of Shows in performance

Daily maintenance of costume pieces, wigs, and accessories as requested by Actors, SMs, etc.

Act as Dresser during shows, helping with quick changes, pre-sets, and post-show cleaning.

Notifying Costume Shop Managers and Designers of any major issues / repairs.

Setting up dressing room spaces

Working with designs and costume shop manager on organizing racks

Keeping Wardrobe Room and Costume Shop tidy, and managing inventory of laundry needs.

Stitching, Draping, and other alterations (as needed) before and during production dates.

Being present for photo calls

Managing strike at end of season; sorting laundry and restocking items.

Renaissance shows - manage and supervise the pulling of costumes, providing guidance and alterations when needed.

Reports directly to Costume Shop Manager and Production Manager



$33,000 / year Salary
