The third new production in the 2014/2015 season is Verdi's mid-period masterwork La Traviata. This opera tells the story of the pure love of a courtesan, Violetta, and her sad end, against a backdrop of Parisian splendour and sophistication. It is a standard work in the repertoire for opera houses worldwide.
The staging will be produced by Vincent BOUSSARD from France, who is famous for his use of colour and sophisticated staging. He has produced a vast number of operas, from baroque to contemporary. Bernarda BOBRO from Slovenia will sing Violetta and Antonio POLI, a rising star from Italy, will play Alfredo. The appealing young cast also includes Alfredo DAZA, who sings at the Staatsoper Berlin, as Germont. Yves ABEL will be conducting in his third engagement at the NNTT following Madame Butterfly in 2011 and Così fan tutte in 2013.
