TIP will present A Kabuki Christmas Carol," by Gary Perlman. Directed by Jon Reimer.
A world premiere! Based on the classic Christmas tale by Charles Dickens, "A Kabuki Christmas Carol" transports us to New Year's Eve in Meiji Era (19th-century) Japan, where a miserly money lender is spiritually transformed by several mysterious visitors. This is a lighthearted retelling of the Dickens story developed with help from and in the style of Japan's popular Kabuki theatre, complete with costumes and sets redolent of the era, live shamisen accompaniment, and performances coached by renowned Kabuki actor Matanosuke Nakamura. East meets West in a perfect introduction to this classic Japanese art form.
Featuring the tremendous talents of Brian Berdanier, William Bolt, Ghiselle Camacho, Julius Fuentes, Roberta Hamilton, Wendell Harrison, Ann Jenkins, Mike Kanert, Hiraku Kawakami, George Luton, Takuya Matsumoto, Gemma Nokes, Amber Richardson, Alice Roschuni, and Rika Wakasugi.
