YOASOBI’s 5th-anniversary concert, “YOASOBI 5th ANNIVERSARY DOME LIVE SURREALISM,” was a magical fusion of the stories and music they have woven together, launching its first show on October 26 at Osaka’s Kyocera Dome. The show opened with Ayase and ikura’s images appearing within the illuminated letters of “YOASOBI,” as the countdown began from ten. A gigantic screen spanning the diameter of the dome emerged, and with the glow of FreFlow® wireless LED lights and laser effects, the stadium was immediately awash in red light. When the screen split to reveal Ayase and ikura, the crowd’s anticipation peaked in an instant.

With the shout, “Are you ready to have fun, Osaka?” ikura launched into “The Blessing,” creating a memorable sight as the audience raised their hands in unison to the beat. Ayase also energized the crowd by pointing and beating his chest, uniting the entire stadium. Next, in “Monster,” flames soared up to the ceiling, and a gigantic monster appeared to emerge from the screen in a captivating effect. Each time the audience responded with a loud “Hey!” the dome’s energy climbed higher.

After performing “UNDEAD,” Ayase took in the dome’s magnificent view with awe, commenting on its overwhelming grandeur. ikura then blended into the cityscape-inspired set on the stage’s right wing to perform “Mister.”

For “manimani,” with ocean visuals in the background, ikura sat on a bench under a streetlamp, singing as if sharing a story with each listener. The audience listened in quiet captivation. The center stage even featured a faithful recreation of Ayase’s room from before he joined YOASOBI. Reflecting on the experience, he shared, “I never thought I’d be able to stand at Kyocera Dome.” When the two cozily chatted while seated at a Kotatsu (heated table), warm laughter rippled through the audience.

In their brand new song, “New Me,” ikura invited the audience to clap along as Ayase played the keyboard with a lively, dance-like motion. This was followed by “Tracing A Dream,” which began with a beautiful a cappella intro from ikura under the spotlight, immersing the entire venue in her vocals.

In the call to “Spin your towels!” the song “RGB” began, and towels whirled across the dome, building even greater intensity. During the banter, they discussed the anxieties they faced early in their career, confessing how they feared their music might go unheard in the pandemic that struck shortly after their debut. They expressed gratitude for the fans’ encouragement that fueled their confidence, transitioning into “Monotone,” a song filled with that appreciation.

As the concert reached its climax, the audience joined Ayase’s drum in singing along to “HEART BEAT” in powerful unity. In an unexpected moment, Ayase and ikura took to a hot-air balloon painted with a gigantic monster, circling the venue and thrilling fans with the close-up interaction.

For the finale, the two performed “The Swallow” with kid dancers. Then, with the words, “Let’s make this a ‘perfect, the most ultimate’ night!” the crowd’s excitement soared to its peak as fists pumped in rhythm during “Idol.” In the final moments, ikura descended to the arena floor, singing “Blue” with a playful bounce, drawing out the audience’s energy to the very end.

In the encore, the two shared their gratitude with the fans and concluded with their debut song, “Into The Night,” bidding farewell with a promise to meet again. This unforgettable night celebrating YOASOBI’s fifth anniversary surely left an indelible mark on each fan, marked by ikura’s steady vocals and Ayase’s passionate performance.
