Esmerelda Quipp is an actress way beyond her prime and trying to scrape by on a meager and insufficient government pension. When she is arrested for attempting to bury her dead cat in her landlord's yard, she finds that prison's better than her freezing apartment. She robs a bank to get herself sent back to jail, but a well-meaning public defender gets the charges against her dropped. Follow Esmerelda's escapades as she attempts to score a conviction that will land her three square meals a day and camaraderie with her newfound friends in the women's prison. Winner of the 2009 Samuel French Canadian Playwriting Competition.
