First produced on Broadway in 1964, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical and nine other Tonys. The show album Hello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. And The show has become one of the most enduring musical theatre hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into a 1969 film that was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
Now, the Alhambra is bringing to life it’s version featuring Emmy® Award winning actress, Sally Struthers – who is just about perfect as Dolly Levi in this production. With spectacular costumes, dancing and singing. Dolly is a brassy widow with a knack for matchmaking. She takes a trip to New York to meet a millionaire, Mr. Vandergelder whom has been courting another woman. She fixes up his store clerks with the woman he had been courting with hopes of making a match with Mr. Vandergelder herself.
