Call it back by popular demand. After his starring role in January's Come Blow Your Horn, the first show of the of 2017 season at Alhambra Theater Dining, Tod Booth is returning to the stage as Ebenezer Scrooge in Bruce Scudder's Christmas Carole.

For nearly three decades, Booth owned the Alhambra until he sold it to Theatre Partners, LLC in 2009. For all that time, including through now, Booth was the Alhambra's creative force as producer and director of nearly every production. Booth now serves as the Alhambra's Creative Director.

The Alhambra has also added several matinee performances to accommodate this season's demand. For the past decade, the Christmas Season show has been a completely sold out, marking it as one of Jacksonville's true holiday traditions.

Said Smith affectionately of Booth's role as Scrooge, "I say this with love of course, but Tod has always been grumpy enough to play Scrooge. Now he is finally old enough to play Scrooge." He continued, "In all seriousness, it will be a delight to see Tod play this character. This is simply one more badge of honor in what has been and continues to be a distinguished and proud career that has touched every part of theatrical life."

In the 30 years that the Alhambra has produced Christmas Carole, only Tony Triano and Gary Marachek have played the Scrooge role. Said Booth of the opportunity, "I have managed and owned theaters, starred in, directed, produced and casted hundreds of shows. But this is a role of a lifetime, and when the opportunity presented itself it was hard to walk away. It is no secret that we had Tony in mind, especially for this the Alhambra's 50th season, but when that didn't work out I took it as somewhat of a sign that perhaps it is my turn to be on this side of the stage for the holidays."

For all evening performances, doors open at 5:50 PM with dinner beginning at approximately 6:00 PM. The show begins at 7:50 PM.
