Live Ink Theatre is pleased to announce a lively staged reading of "Lillian, Paula. Carson" a play by John Barrow on Wednesday, June 28th, 8 pm, at Amelia Community Theatre's Studio 209. Directed by Ron Kurtz and performed by Fran Hindsley, Sadie LaManna and Sinda Nichols, the play had its' world preview in March at The Morningside Players in NYC. Set in 1953 in Northern Georgia, this inspiring and enlightening drama gives us a unique view inside the hearts and mind of three brilliant women: LillIan Smith, best selling novelist of "Strange Fruit", and a strong opponent of segregation in the South; Paula Snelling, Lillian's long-term companion and co-editor with Lillian of the magazine "South Today", and CarsonMcCullers, novelist and playwright (The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, The Member of the Wedding).

"Lillian, Paula. Carson" takes place on the evening Lillian returns home from the hospital and Carson McCullers makes a surprise visit to the rustic mountain home of Lillian and Paula near Clayton, Georgia. Three women, not knowing any more what tomorrow holds, but knowing that they want to make the world a better place, give the audience a story that resonates deeply with today's concerns.

Born in Jasper, Florida in 1897 near the Okefenokee Swamp, LillIan Smith moved to Georgia when she was 17. Though she spent the rest of her life primarily in Georgia, she also spent time in Jacksonville, and Neptune Beach. Fernandina Beach author, Rose Gladney, co-editor of "A LillIan Smith Reader", and editor of "How Am I to Be Heard? Letters of LillIan Smith" will be at the performance along with playwright John Barrow. There will be a brief talk back after the play where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of Rose Gladney, playwright John Barrow, and the director and cast.

Tickets are $10 and are available by calling the Amelia Community Theatre box office at 904-261-6749 or going online at www.ameliacommunitytheatre.org. For additional information please go to www.liveinktheatre.com or Live Ink Theatre Ensemble Facebook
