Work Light Productions, one of the nation's premiere producers of theatrical national tours, and IMG Artists, the industry's global leader in performing arts management, announced today the launch of new joint producing venture VOCALOSITY, a theatrical property comprised entirely of a cappella music, which will begin its North American tour on October 23, 2015 at the Curtis M. Phillips, M.D. Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The national tour will continue through the fall of 2015 and into the spring of 2016.

VOCALOSITY celebrates the wonder of the human voice through the excitement of the rapidly-growing a cappella movement. The production is a live concert and theatrical experience hybrid in two acts that features 12 dynamic voices exploring unique musical sounds and styles, from Gregorian chant to contemporary Top 40 hits.

"Over the past few years, a cappella has grown from what was once considered a stuffy Ivy League activity to a pop culture phenomenon beloved by people of all ages," said Deke Sharon, who serves as artistic director, music director and co-creator of the new production. "VOCALOSITY is a fast-paced, exhilarating exploration of this one-of-a-kind musical style and we couldn't be more thrilled to bring it to audiences across the country."

Hailed as "the father of contemporary a cappella" by Entertainment Weekly, Sharon has also served as on-site music director and vocal producer for the box office smash Pitch Perfect and vocal producer of NBC's The Sing-Off. He is currently working on Pitch Perfect 2, which will hit movie theatres nationwide in May 2015.

In addition to a number of exciting grassroots initiatives that will accompany the production, presenters of VOCALOSITY's North American tour will be given the opportunity to host an online video competition among local a cappella groups who will compete for the chance to perform live at their respective performance. The winner in each city will be chosen by Sharon himself and will open VOCALOSITY's second act with a 5-minute vocal routine.
