New Stage brings A Christmas Memory to the stage, featuring book by Duane Poole and based on the short story by Truman Capote, with music by Larry Grossman and lyrics by Carol Hall. The production is directed by Patrick Benton and runs December 6-8, 13-15 at 7:30 pm and December 9, 16 at 2:00 pm.

The aroma of pecan pie and the flicker of candles in the window banish the December chill of a 1930s Alabama winter. This musical version of Truman Capote’s enchanting holiday tale follows the deep friendship and delightful shenanigans of cousins Buddy and Sook, who make the most of what may be their last Christmas together. Sure to delight the entire family, Truman Capote’s enchanting masterpiece springs to life in this big-hearted musical treat. A wistful memoir of cherished youth, it chronicles the 1930s friendship of a shy boy and his eccentric cousin—misfits who launch kites, haunt speakeasies, and mail fruitcakes to everyone from Jean Harlow to President Roosevelt!

Tickets $25; $22 seniors/students; $18 children 12 and under. Special Family Package: $75, includes two adult tickets and two for children 12 and under.

On Thursday, December 13 the Madison Central High School Brass Quintet will be playing Christmas music before the show in the Hewes Room starting at 7:00 p.m.
