Laurel Little Theatre Announces THE MUSIC MAN 12/12

The opening show of our 2009-2010 season has been decided! We'll kick off with the classic 1958 Tony Award winning Best Musical THE MUSIC MAN December 10th-14th. Well known for the 1962 movie version that starred Robert Preston and Shirley Jones, this show has been a favorite for decades. Audition info is included down below.

The annual patron's party will be at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art on Saturday, December 12th with a night of food, drink and entertainment before everyone heads over to the Arabian for the evening's performance of the musical. Mark those dates on your calendars!

NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND A NEW SEASON

At the annual general membership meeting this past month, long time Board member Becky Thomas was elected as our 2009-2010 LLT President. She's working on a slate of directors and shows for the rest of the new season that will promise something for everyone. Becky and the new Board is working on having two musicals and two comedies presented this coming year and the other three production titles will be announced in the next month.

ARABIAN RENOVATION'S CHAIR DONOR PLAQUES

A big thanks to all of you that 'bought' chairs for our major renovation this past year. The hard work certainly shows in our grand ol' Arabian and we greatly appreciate your help. The donor names have been printed in our show programs all this past season so that everyone had time to check it over for any typos. Now is the time to engrave the donor plaques so that they'll be hanging in the Arabian Lobby by the opening show in December. Please take one last check over the donor list to make sure we haven't spelled any names incorrectly or left anyone off. The full list is on our website on the 'donor' page. And, as a side note, we recently had a couple folks ask if we could still use any last donations, and of course......YES! As a non-profit organization, we always 'depend upon the kindness of strangers'...and friends. We can still get your name added to the donor list and the engraved plaques if you get it in quickly. THE MUSIC MAN AUDITIONS

Auditions are announced for Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th at 7pm at our Downtown Arabian Theatre. Come on down either night if you'd like to be in the cast or work backstage.

Director Juna Broome will be using a large cast of 100 adults and 60 students (age 6 and up). This will be a great show for families to do together since the kids and adults do many of the scenes together and will be rehearsing at the same times---so all you Moms and Dads come on down and do a show with your little stars!

Rehearsals for kids will start off at just twice a week. Adult cast will rehearse an additional night or two each week. Two months of rehearsals and then the show goes up December 10th-14th for six performances.

Lots of roles in this one with solos, duets and a barbershop quartet featured to tell the story of con man 'Professor' Harold Hill as he hoodwinks the citizens of the all-American town of River City, Iowa at the turn of the 19th Century.
