Center Stage Jackson is finishing its 2017-18 Season with The Drowsy Chaperone, Music & Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, Book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. This Main Stage musical will run June 8, 9, 16, and 17 at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees June 10 and 18 at 3:00pm. All performances are on the stage of the Baughman Theatre at Jackson College's Potter Center, 2111 Emmons Rd. Jackson, MI 49201.

With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

The Drowsy Chaperone's Production Team includes Gerry Blanchard (Director), Brynn Arnall (Producer), Sandy DiCesare (Stage Manager, Lighting), Larry Sumner Jr. (Music Director), Aimie Smith (Choreography), Ellen Yoakam (Costumes), Susanna Ellis (Properties), Kevin Steller (Technical Director), Kimberly Swartz (Set Design) and Kara DeChalk (Asst. Stage Manager).

The cast includes Brian Ketner (Man in Chair), Victor McDermott (Robert Martin), Amanda Frerichs (Janet Van De Graaf), Matthew McDonald (George), Don LaFollette (Aldolpho), Karen Kidder (The Drowsy Chaperone), Lisa Cryderman (Mrs. Tottendale), David Gilman (Underling), Mike Sutton (Feldzieg), Sarah Lehman (Kitty), Mark Sanders and Liz Andrews (Gangsters), Brynn Arnall (Trix), as well as an ensemble of eight tap dancers.

Tickets purchased in advance are $18 for Adults and $16 for Students. Tickets purchased at the door are $20 for Adults and $18 for Students (with ID). Groups of ten or more can purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $16 per person in advance, or $18 at the door. Group sales must be for a single performance, purchased in a single transaction.

Tickets can be purchased at the door with credit/debit/cash, online at CenterStageJackson.org, over the phone by calling (517) 539-4118, or at the Potter Center Box Office. Online and phone sales will end 3 hours prior to curtain time, at which point tickets will be available at the door only.

In regards to family-friendly status, The Drowsy Chaperone is a show containing some adult themes that will likely go over the heads of children. We recognize that all parents differ on what is and isn't appropriate for their child, though, and welcome parents to read the full synopsis on the Center Stage Jackson website, CenterStageJackson.org.
