Center Stage Jackson is pleased to announce its 2017-2018 Season!
The season will start in the fall with a Main Stage musical classic, My Fair Lady (Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, Music by Frederick Loewe). Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is a classic tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady. Six performances will be held November 3, 4, 5 & 10, 11, 12, 2017 at Jackson College's Potter Center in the Baughman Theatre.
Immediately following will be the Youth Theater play, A Dickens Christmas Carol, adapted by Gary Peterson. This is a traditional but abridged retelling of Dickens's classic story. Three performances will be held November 17, 18, and 19, 2017 at Jackson's First Presbyterian Church. Youth Theater Productions are open to all Jackson County 3rd-9th grade youth, no experience necessary!
Rolling into the new year, the Main Stage dinner theatre will be Neil Simon's comedy The Odd Couple - Female Version. Unger and Madison are at it again--Florence Unger and Olive Madison, that is! Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. The Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constanzuela brothers, but the hilarity remains the same! Nine limited-seating dinner theater performances will be held February 16, 17, 18, February 23, 24, 25, and March 2, 3, 4, 2018 at the Sandhill Crane Vineyards.
The spring Youth Theater musical will be Honk! Jr. (Book and Lyrics by Anthony Drewe, Music by George Stiles). In Honk! Jr., Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling Brothers and Sisters. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, meeting a whole flock of unique characters and finding out that being different is not a bad thing to be. Partnering with Jackson Public Schools once again, three performances will be held March 23, 24, 25, 2018 at the Middle School at Parkside's Kiesel Auditorium.
The summer Main Stage Musical will be The Drowsy Chaperone (Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, Book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar). When a die hard theatre fan plays his favorite cast album, the characters come to life in this hilarious musical farce and winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score. Six performances will be held June 8, 9, 10 & June 15, 16, 17, 2018 at Jackson College's Potter Center in the Baughman Theatre.
Other season events to look forward to include the 10th Annual Youth Singing Competition in January, our annual themed cabaret in April, and various selections from the Reader's Theatre Series, dates to be announced.
All persons interested in directing any of the above productions are encouraged to contact Katie Meyers before May 31, 2017 for more information or to schedule an interview. Experience is not required, and more information on how to prepare for interviews will be provided after inquiry.
