The Imaginary Invalid is one of the masterpieces of Moliere's Tartuffe and The Misanthrope at the next. A comedy, the last written by the great French man of the theater, which reveals an extraordinary wealth: it is an old-fashioned farce full of excellent comedic from which emerges at the same time the world view of a disillusioned and disenchanted Molière who had lost At the end of his life, confidence in himself and in his fellow men. Father of a beautiful daughter, the husband of a woman greedy and faithless, and the victim of a swarm of doctors vultures, salassatori and charlatans, Argantes is the sick imagination of the title, a character who Molière masterfully stitched on himself, but that he was able to interpret only for four performances: he died Friday, February 17, 1673, minutes after the closing of the curtain. Even today, The Imaginary Invalid is a text that is bathed in an aura of sacredness theatrical.
