Natale in casa Cupiello at Piccolo Teatro Grassi

I venture towards the discovery of Eduardo De Filippo’s theatre with joy, fear, excited curiosity and a good dose of folly. I have cultivated the desire to approach this great actor-author-director, his dramaturgical heritage and the play Natale in casa Cupiello (Christmas at the Cupiello's) for a long time. This solitary version seemed a possible way to do so: a key to access his art and his language. Defining Natale in Casa Cupiello is difficult, because it is a simple yet complex text. Simple because it is popular, familiar and complex because it is human, it is realistic, but also metaphoric. When I read Natale in Casa Cupiello, I have the feeling of finding myself in front of a wonderful musical score, a vibrant medium of communication, deep and poetic.
