Taken from the early poem by Lord Byron, Le Corsaire debuted in Paris in 1856 and immediately turned out to be an outstanding success, also thanks to the exotic setting and the fascinating love story between Medora and the pirate Conrad. It is considered among the most reappraised choreographies in the history of dance, except for some tracks such as ‘Le Jardin Animé’, ‘Pas d'esclave’ and, especially the ‘virtuoso’ and ‘Pas de deux’ which are considered the stable repertoire of the magnificent choreography.
