The film 'Black Swan,' directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, will open the 2010 Venice International Film Festival, CBC News reports.  The Festival will run from September 1 to September 11.

'Black Swan,' which CBC describes as a "psychological thriller," stars Portman and Mila Kunis as rival ballet dancers and friends, one of whom "becomes frighteningly perfect in her portrayal of the duplicitous swan queen in Swan Lake."  The film also features Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder, and Vincent Cassel.  It will be released commercially in the fall of 2010, following its screening in Venice.

Natalie Portman starred on Broadway in THE DIARY OF Anne Frank.  Her other stage credits include THE SEAGULL and RUTHLESS!!  On screen, Portman's credits include 'V for Vendetta,' 'Paris, je t'aime,' 'The Other Boleyn Girl,' 'Everyone Says I Love You,' 'Garden State,' and the 'Star Wars' prequels.
