An ordinary Friday night meal at Grandma Malka’s turns into a battlefield when one of the daughters of the family announces that she won’t be attending the family’s Passover seder. The peace is suddenly disturbed and Malka—about whom it is said in the play that “she will even kill to preserve the integrity of the family”—takes drastic measures to reverse this declaration. Gov’s sober and penetrating view of life and special humor, examines Israeli family pressures and raises questions about love, obligation, slavery and freedom.
