Written and directed by Eli Haviv, "What Really Matters" (Ma Shehashuv Be'emet) presents 3 tragic comedies that deal with the will for life and the life that we want to have. One of the cast members is Gabi Amrani who plays the role of a has-been old man. The Chief Executive of The Incubator Theatre, Arik Eshet, returns to stage after 25 years by taking part in this play.

Eli Haviv managed to bring together 3 stories that seem to be separate from each other but in fact all the stories deal with the same issues that any person in the world has to deal with. "What Really Matters" brings out questions that anyone ask himself about his life, ambitions, the value of his life and its inavitable ending.

The first story deals with a young couple that move to a house where a nice and lonely old man live, without a notice, while he eats his dinner. His time is passed and now it's time for the young couple to live in his house. This loving and vivid couple has to face an old man that hangs on to what remains of his life and doesn't let go.

On a different night, inside a military base, a failed poet and a see-through man are seating inside a tent with a whore, a weapon, alcohol and a bad song to keep them company. A moment before the war breaks in the outside, a war breaks inside the tent. Who gets to decide? What's his decision? Who gets to choose? Who will survive? And what for?

On a third evening a woman celebrates her 50th birthday with her loving husband in their bourgeois house. They have a romantic dinner when a magician arrives in their house, because who doesn't want some magic in his life? We all have birthday wishes and forgotten dreams and now what's left to find out is whether those dreams are worthy, do they need to be fulfilled or is life really something completely different.

Those characters and their pieces of life tell us new stories but they enlight familiar thoughts that leave the viewer wondering what really matters, even after leaving the theatre.
